Greetings from the wintry Midwest. I'm looking for options to put an umbrella over the back half of the stern when we cove out. I'm wondering if anyone has anything they have come up with that's working well? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the umbrella and bracket on umbrellas4boats.com which is only $299, but wanted to know if there is a good setup that will use the ski pylon hole that may work better. I'm trying to will boating season closer here.........

Thanks guys! Now after reading that thread I have to decide if I want it covering the back of the boat and in the ski pylon or to get the bracket that mounts on the back and puts the umbrella mostly over the water. I like the flexibility of the online one but it only comes in navy blue.

Loto, just put it in the ski pylon. You'll thank me (us) later. Order a sleeve from Sliderule and go buy an umbrella. I bought a cheapie at Walley World for 30 bucks. It lasted almost all summer before it broke. It was under warranty and when I took it back they had been reduced to half price, so I got two.
Or.. you can buy a higher quality/more expensive model right off the bat and you'll still be fine. I wasn't sure I'd like it, so I went with the cheap version. But it works!
Here is what it looks like on my 262.

That looks amazing YT! Is the sleeve from Slide with the threads or with the notch to twist and lock? My 04 282 doesn't have threads but the twist and lock "notch" if you will.

Thanks Loto. Yeah, mine has the twist and lock, and no, I made this before Slide started making his. Mine is a redneck version. I used a piece of stainless pipe, cut it to the length I want, bought a cheap umbrella, cut the bottom off the staff so it would match my arch, and stuck it in. It works like a bomb! I need to drill and pin the umbrella staff, otherwise the wind can pick it up. It hasn't blown out yet but its come close a couple times.

I’m pretty sure Slide is working on it. He mentioned it requires different cutting to drop.. twist.. lock. Im sure it will be artwork.

Right. Once he dials in the "older" style with the twist and lock sleeve he'll pretty much have a niche in the market and be able to cover a slew of boats.
The one I use is crude but it works, for the most part. But once Slide has one built I'm a buyer. His will have the key lock, a thumb screw and be polished.
Slide to the nearest connected smarrtfone? If you need a prototype? A Guinea Pig? A cheering section? Just holler.

Inspiration from the Creative Ytmsn and the Fab king sliderule got me on a project based off everything I’ve seen.
When I was at the boat show last week and opened the Bimini on the Regal I knew it was time try something on ours.
.
So now that everyone has done the recon.. I came up with this for ours.
.
As eventually it will be 2.0 od tubing to start I figured let’s do a PVC demonstrator.
Off to Home Depot for the Tube.

.
Now to create the presicion Template.

.
Now to cut out the Template with a rusty dull razor blade.

Once your Template is made transfer it over.

.
Now break out your hand CNC skills. (This is where Slidrule gets mad at me.) not pretty but a drill bit and dremel will work.

.
And after cleaning it up you have a lockable tube.
