Fender issue - looking for suggestions

I’m loving the new R5 especially the fender clips. Very easy for docking. However, I’m looking for a solution for when I want to tie up next to my friends R3. Neither one of us can get our fenders to stay high enough on the clips to prevent our boats from rubbing. We had to result in rigging up 2-3 life jackets to go along the top chrome railings or physically holding the boats apart. I’m sure there’s a better way or solution for this newbie to try. I’m almost thinking of something like one of those old blow up rafts that would serve as a curtain between our boats.

Lots of solutions are available. Look up Taylor fenders. A couple of big 24's would work. Or one of those 6' water wieners that you blow up. But the easiest solution would be to have a couple of dedicated fenders that you have choked up on the line so they fall between the rub rails.
I've thought about installing fender clips, but haven't for this very reason. We tie up at different docks and along side all kinds of different boats, and I constantly have to adjust the line where they fall almost always.

These things are awesome. I have them on all my fenders. Allows you to clip them anywhere on the boat, cleats/windshield/towers/rails and adjust height quickly. It now takes my Wife about 2 minutes to get all the fenders out when we're coming in to dock versus about 10 minutes before.

I use the taylormade larger fenders
The mission fenders look pretty great too. See link below

I’ll second the Mission fenders - they work well.
Akorcovelos, thanks for the tip on the Fender Tender, I just ordered a couple as they look like a must have.

I keep 2 regular Taylormade 8in fenders in my boat for this exact reason. I have tied up with fellow R series boats from time to time. An 8in fender at the mid cleat and the fender clips deployed at the bow and stern does the trick.

Just ask the guy with the pontoon driving by. He has 4 of them still hanging down while driving past you

I have the Mission Sentry Fenders. They work well. I use them in conjunction with the fenders in the fender clips.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I've been looking at these for awhile but haven't pulled the trigger.

That's why I haven't bought them yet. But I thought these would work well between the boat and pilings.

I bought two of the Mission fenders and used them for the first time this past weekend. I thought they worked great. Especially when tied up to other boats. I will definitely be picking up a couple more.
