R5 Standard Sound - what speakers/head?

Wondering what size/brand/model speakers, and how many, come in an R5 with Standard Sound? Also, where is the head unit located?
Is the RF head unit/preamp different with standard sound vs upgraded options? DO they all have Preamp/Sub outs?
Probably going to buy an R5 with standard, but have a decent amp (not JL quality) and subwoofer I'd like to add.
thanks!

I can’t comment on the standard.
But with you getting 30% off you are paying about 1600 bucks for the premium sound. Do it. It’s worth it. They use all JL speakers and amps. And you get the transom speakers. They are very nice for when you are coved our and hanging out in the water.

Wasn’t it Rockford Fosgate speakers in the base, JL as a step up, and Roswell in the highest end package? That’s my recollection from the factory tour.

Standard is all JL speakers.(just finished getting into everything to add transom speakers) Head unit is located under the floor of the bathroom. Not the easiest to access. If you sit on the porta potti and stretch your feet under the floor, you will hit it. Found out from fosgate that they do not recommend the way standard R5 is set up. Head unit is only four channels so front speakers use 2 channels and the 4 cockpit speakers are probably run parallel off the remaining two channels.
Transom Speakers are about 200.00. You will need spacers for both if you use JL. Material would cost about 30 or you can buy spacers for about 80 on ebay. Not sure which AMP is used on upgrade but I need a 8 channel AMP to run things properly and that is another 800. Might make sense just to pay the upgrade.

Thanks higgins - great info.
If I build from scratch, I will certainly pay for it as you and tgrace suggest.
A few follow up questions. Is the R5/Standard using the headless PMX-8BB? I was where some 220s were using the PMX-8DH that has a screen with it tucked away and hidden.
Were your four cockpit speaker wires all pulled back to the amp, or were they split in parallel "downstream" in the side of the boat?
With premium, do you know what size JL sub, where it is mounted, and if it is standard or infinite baffle?
thanks!
jeff

When did Roswell become the bees knees of speakers?

PMXBB, PMX1r in dash and transom. Guessing wires are split down stream. Best I can do with the picture. Had a lot of help from another post. All wiring is marked. To involved for a novice like me.

Roswell's actually pretty solid. Purportedly made by Focal, which is pretty high end in the home speaker market.
I picked up some 6.5"s cheap (same speaker as the new R1, but older branding) a couple years ago but haven't done more than give them a test listen yet. Now that my little guy's one, maybe I'll get more time in the boat this summer so I can get them installed and give a more detailed report.
I think Roswell had a deal with Malibu, which may be why we're seeing them on Cobalts recently. Roswell's other products are really directed toward the wakeboarding community.

I got the Platinum Package on my R7 Surf and very glad I did. My old 252 had aftermarket system with poor wiring and speakers turn on and off with static while hitting waves... very annoying. The RGB LED lights on the Roswell is a nice touch. Pricey...but worth it, IMHO.
