R3 in 2 Weeks!

Hi All,

Reading all of the new owner posts, I asked my dealer for an update on my 2019 R3 delivery date. After checking with the factory, the dealer advises that production is on schedule with a ship date estimated to be June 17th and arrival at my dealer by June 24th (on schedule). The dealer will be putting it into the water for me on July 2nd. If it arrives on schedule, the delivery lead time will have been about 90 days (13 weeks).

Pictures? Apparently, the factory no longer provides pictures of boats in production, just a completed boat picture. I'll post pictures them when I have them. :)

I’m jealous you have an update. After reading your post, I asked my dealer for an update and all they’ve said is “Cobalt hasn’t updated the order yet, will let you know when they do”.

My delivery date should be about the same as yours... ordered on March 23 and was slated for an “end June” delivery date. Fingers crossed. I have big plans for the 4th of July week.

My dealer won’t know for sure until he receives a shipment notification, but he told me that it appears it is tracking according to schedule. I’ll know for sure this time next week as it is supposed to ship on the 17th. It’s only 18 hours from the factory to my dealer, but I’m thinking the try and consolidate orders and ship several at the same time? Of course that is what they do when you order a car.

I drive towards the factory when I am going to the lake. So I often see a trailer of shrink wrapped Cobalts heading up I-44. I usually see 3 per trailer. Unless it is like an R35 or something along those lines.

That is what I suspected. I bought a 2017 911 a couple of years ago and it took almost 10 days from the port. The transport truck had to drop cars in Montreal and Toronto before ultimately making it to my city. If he had driven straight through, it would have been 3 days max.

You should call the shipping carrier and see if he booked the load yet. Maybe you can find out if your the first stop

Just found out my ship date is June 21. Not sure what that means yet for delivery. I live in MA, and hoping anything on the truck is heading to the same dealer (fingers crossed?). Planned to be on the water starting June 29, so we’ll see.

Given that my ship date is supposed to be the 17th, if it was on schedule you’d think my dealer would have been notified by now (based on you having been notified about a June 21 ship date. Oh well, I don’t need the boat until July 2nd, so still plenty of time. :)

I reached out and asked the dealer after reading your post (and being jealous you had ship date info). Initially, all I heard was "Cobalt hasn't updated the order", so I asked more, knowing that you had heard a ship date and a similar end-June delivery date. They must have reached out to Cobalt to find out after I pressed them -- and got the June 21 ship date.

Spoke to the sales guy afterward, and he told me they'd probably have it on site June 24 or 25.

BobRae - have you heard anything more about your boat? Happy ship date!

Hi Ryan,

I haven't heard anything. I think I'll give my dealer a call in the next day or two. The original delivery date was June 24th (next Monday), so if it is going to be on time, I'm assuming it will ship in the next day or so.

I don't really need it delivered to the slip until July 2nd, so there is a bit of wiggle room. Just hoping it isn't late as I'm taking that week off to take my kids to the cabin.

If it doesn't arrive by July 2nd, option "B" would be to ask the dealer to drop my trade back in the water until the new boat arrives as I note the dealer hasn't sold it yet. That gets a bit complicated though with arranging insurance and there is an extra delivery trip for the dealer, plus if I have an accident with it .....

Let's just say I'm hoping it's on time. :)

Well good luck... I know it’s a bit unnerving as we get days away from delivery. Feeling it myself. Likewise hope it’s not late here.

Keep us posted and here’s hoping you’re back on the water soon!

Actually, I was on the water last Thursday (Sea Doo) looking at a cottage for sale from the water perspective. Floating along 100 yards offshore in 1.3M (4.3') of water I glided onto a rock (or 3) and gently rocked it off and backed away. I ended up with a few scratches down the bottom centerline of the hull though. A good reminder to stay well away from shore on this lake as there are lots of rocks hiding in wait - to eat a tasty set of new stainless steel propellors (and more). :(
