We are proud new owners of a 1994 Cobalt 252. We brought the boat back to Buffalo from Lake Geneva lake in Wisconsin (We bought it at Gordys in Fontana).

We’ve had an amazing time so far and we are looking forward to engaging this site to answer a few questions we had.

Thanks for having us!
John and Jen

That's what it's about right there in the bow seat, smile says it all. Congrats and welcome from San Antonio.

Welcome from Missouri!

Looks like the family is enjoying it! I’ve seen a bunch of 252’s on the lake before and they are great boats.

Gordys is my back yard, that’s a haul! Welcome from Illinois and fellow 252 owner. Legend says the 252 is the greatest boat Cobalt ever made, and don’t let the naysayers here try to convince you otherwise!

Welcome. That's the only fishing pole allowed with that smile. Nice job

Welcome from California! Great first pics as the family smiles are what this is all about.

Now tell me that is not the trailer for her?. It’s obviously set up for a 27-28 . The bow stop can be moved and a single roller installed as it needs to support the nose slightly to prevent bouncing and hull deflection. 2nd issue it appears as it was for a larger boat the bunks are running off and in the lifting strakes of the hull. Those can be cut and re welded in the right spots.

Other than that it’s a great model and the perfect package for comfort and performance!
Congratulations.

Welcome from Oklahoma! Agreed, that smile makes fishing with a pink pole soo worth it!

The 252 is a great model! Several members with them on here, but dont listen to akro mush. He's drank the koolaid and doesn't know any better. Clearly the 260 series is the best.

Ok Cobalt experts i have a question.

What does everyone think is the proper prop size for my 252 with the 7.4 liter Mercruiser 454 big block with a bravo one outdrive? We do some skiing and tubing, and we believe our RPM’s are getting too high with the 21 pitch 3 blade 5500 rpms. The breather on the valve cover is leaking a bit of oil full out for extended rides, and I believe the prop could be the issue. Please let me know what you think.

I think your spinning way too many rpms. Without one a ton of info here. Like what year engine. 454 mag or just a normal 454. What gear ratio. How hard to you want to push it I guess. I think 4600 is prob your Mac you should be going for. Maybe 4800. If you want to run a 3 blade the mirage plus is a nice prop and prob need a 25 pitch maybe get away with a 23 but I don't know.
