I have a 2016 220s with a Volvo penta 300HP. Boat is awesome and great acceleration. My wife complains that when she is driving, the throttle is really touchy. I know I can adjust the resistance to make it harder to move the lever, but her comment is if she barely moves it, it drastically accelerates. I know I am probably just used to it because I drive more. Has anyone else noticed this and is there way to adjust the sensitivity?

Sorry let her drive more she will get used to it. I hit a wake and my arm came down on my throttle this weekend and the boat came out of the water over the wake. Yep I tried that. It worked. Opps. It slipped.

Before I bought my boat I rented a 220s from a local marina and noticed the same thing. It also had the VP300. I just figured it was a rental boat and someone had messed up the throttle or it had something stuck in the lever.

Do you have evc?

Don’t you mean the DP240?

The DP is assumed tg, especially on a 240.

My 18 is the same way, i've gotten used to it. Not much help on a fix, but we're in the same boat on throttle touchiness.

There are quite a few 240sx's running around.

My 2013 A25 is like that, too. One of the very few things I dislike about the boat.

our 2018 220s feels the same way. Putt putting along at 15mph and then a little touch and you are at 25. With very little throttle movement. You aren't the only one. Get used to it.

Hey begrooms.

Have you tried holding the throttle arm similar to a handshake resting your thumb on top? This allows you to use your wrist more which helps with finer throttle movements.

Grasping the throttle from above requires arm movements which can lend to “ham fisting “ the throttle due to the larger motion.

Something to consider.

With VP, you should have EVC on this boat and the throttle lever "resistance" is adjustable. The owner's manual details the procedure, but states it should be adjusted by the dealer.

I had a non EVC 210 last year with a Gen 5 V6/280 and my biggest complaint was the difficulty in making "micro adjustments" to the throttle. By the time I applied enough pressure to the throttle level to move it a bit, it moved much more than I wanted. Your problem seems to be the opposite (too much throttle change with a small amount of movement) ?

My new boat (R3 VP V8 350) has EVC and not only is the lever much easiler to move in small increments, but shifting in and out of gear seems smoother as well. I'd advise you to talk to your dealer.

Been there. Learned very early on the R3 that I don't leave my hand on the throttle in chop. Haven't gone airborne, but have put a few passengers on their backsides.

I have the same boat / engine package. Yes it is sensitive. Sometimes I grip the throttle lower , nearer the pivot point, less torque is applied and fine control can be achieved. Works for me but I have also gotten used to the sensitivity.

I hated my DTS at first due to the same thing coming from livorsi throttle and cables. Made some tension adjustments and repositioned my arm angle to rest and not hover and I’m loce with it!
The pro to having it.
No more partial engagement bump in and out of gear ( your outdrive will live longer ), and maneuvering for parking is really where they shine.
