Not a new member, but another new Cobalt, still on beautiful Lake George in upstate NY.

Enjoyed our CS22 for a year before we decided that a bigger boat would better meet our needs. So back to Dan at Boats by George to trade in for our second Cobalt, one of his last 2019 R5 models in stock.

Great looking boat with navy hull sides, shale stripe, and sandstone bottom, with Saddle interior. Other options include docking lights, seagrass flooring, pump-out porta potti, satellite radio, easy fold bimini, dual batteries, Volvo 300 with duoprop, and flagpole.

Wife and I are enjoying the great ride, additional room for guests, and the classic look, along with the strong performance of the 300 hp engine. No regrets!

That's awesome. So what do you miss from the CS? What do you like more about the r5 other than 2 feet longer and more room.
What engine did you have in the CS?

Great looking R5! I just went from a 262 up to the R7 and I love it as well!

We really liked the CS22, which had the Volvo 280 V6, just felt that a little bigger and heavier boat would work better for Lake George, which can get choppy. Taking more family and friends along was also a goal, and a head is a great addition, especially for kids.

Comparing the two boats, the R5's higher freeboard and weight offers a smoother ride and handles chop better, while the CS22 was more sporty, rode closer to the water. The R5 definitely has a classier interior, and the Glass Cockpit is really cool technology. Both boats are great, just have different strengths. Maybe like comparing a BMW 3 series and 5 series...

Interesting, both boats top out around 49-50 mph...

I’m really digging the greys they are putting on Cobalts these days, maybe my new favorite color on a boat.
