Boat broken

Hey everyone. I have a 2019 cs22 with the Volvo 240 DP. Boat has been great up until August 29th where it threw check engine codes and ran badly. I took into local dealer where I purchased the boat to be diagnosed. Two weeks into it, it was determined a bad injector so we needed to wait for parts. After that was installed, the boat continued to throw codes. At this point they said that there was water in the fuel tank. They drained the fuel and stated the problem was fixed. Received the boat back early October after a month in their possession. Took the boat out and it happened again. Was furious. Boat back at the dealer and now it’s coils. Any advice on how I should handle this or what any of you would do? I have kind of lost faith in the boat and didn’t expect from a cobalt.

1st is Malibu fault.
2nd is not Cobalts fault
3rd its a Volvo engine and there rigging. So we can blame it right now on Volvo.
4th of you really don't trust it trade it back into the dealer and buy a merc.
I'm sure your dealer will understand and they will give you another smoking deal.
5th have them stuff a 350hp in it for you.
Sorry for your issues it sucks. I deal with it every day. I get demands to buy my car back every day. I get demands that they are keeping my loaner for ever and you can keep my car. Or I'm going to drive my truck right through the frt of our building. It makes me mad no one has done that yet. I get it. Myself if I don't like it I sell it or trade it in.

As BB well stated the 240 Volvo has no idea what it’s mounted to.
Like anything new, be it a appliance or any mechanical item if it has a issue it usually shows up in the first few months of operation.
The question of the “ Same “ issue or same part failure coming back is the concern as that will determine product itself being haunting.
Yes I’ve had customers want to trade their vehicles back in when the phone didn’t pair to the infotainment because they felt it unsafe to operate.
In this case let the mechanical woes be sorted out and you’ll have great longevity.
I would rather have this happen now then down the road when I don’t have warranty resources to help me.

I had a problem with my merc and I felt defeated. The engine light came on constantly and I had to drive about 6 times round trip between Columbus and cinncy Ohio to talk get dealer to work on it. Finally the real issue became apparent, my fuel system got replaced and I have not had an issue with the boat since. Keep pushing for then to fix/find the issue. Better days are ahead and it will be great when the problem is in the rear view mirror

Sounds like you have a crappy dealer who doesnt know how to diagnose a problem. if theyve tried "fixing" it multiple times and the same problem comes back then they havent found the problem. I know a brand new boat shouldnt have issues, but it should have been solved on the first go around. sounds like they are just throwing parts at it

Maybe not a crappy dealer just a tech that didn't knew how to diag today's engines. I was thinking the same thing driving into work today. I think he or she is just throwing parts at it. But getting to the root cause. Today's tech is not easy. I have one nightmare in the shop right now.
Yes A7 it's been a week. I feel like crap and people are a pain.
Sorry but like I said the dealer will prob work with you to get you out of it if they can if that's truely what you want. That's what we do. Don't be a Jerk and you will get much further then being a jerk.

So picked up the boat after it was fixed. They lake and put 3 hours on it. Took it out and the blower sounded like it was going out and the boat started over heating lol it’s comical now. Told them I don’t want the boat. Looks like they’re gonna build me a cs23 with a free motor upgrade for same price I paid initially. Big performance difference between 280DP or 300DP?

Glad they are taking care of you. From your 240 - 280 your still in a v6 engine. To me not much of a engine for a 23 ft boat. 300-350 now you're into the 5.3 v8 to me much better suited for a 23ft boat.

BBP--I can't imagine what you and CJM must deal with. I think you are on to something about "throwing parts" at it due to poor diagnostics. I had that same issue with my truck once. My truck sounded like it had a leaky header that you could only hear under acceleration. No codes and they had it for a week. It finally took the service manager and a senior tech to actually visually inspect the headers, which is not an easy thing to do on my truck and low and behold, they found a soot trail that they traced back to the headers---and sure enough one of them had a slight warp. They both said that no computer diagnostic tool would have ever found it (as evidenced by the first dealer that dismissed the problem). They even called in a regional rep/tech and he missed it.
There are two kinds of automotive techs....those that read codes and throw parts, and then there are those worthy of sainthood....at least in my book.

Update. Took the boat out with guy from shop. Ran great. They asked me to give it another chance and I did. Cobalt is giving me JL tower speakers and wake board racks for free. Didn’t make financial sense to leave the boat at this time. Action water sports took care of me

Any idea on what my WOT should be? Had full tank of gas and 4 adults on boat. 5500 RPM at 45 all day

Others on here have the same boat and power package as you. I would think 48 is you max. 1 person empty on gas you will be there. Your max rpm is 5800 need to keep the hammer down and trim it up more. Boom 48mph.
So did they try and fix the boat Again? Is that why they had someone go with you. Or just to see if it acted up again since last time. If they didn't fix anything you know I'd going to act up again. So no new boat?
