Hey John. Missed ya' the first time around but welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

That price seems a little high considering the trailer is not included and she has the 280 horse. This 220 looks to be in good shape but like you mentioned, knowing the hours will help in your decision. I'm guessing that is a fresh water boat. Stay away from salt if you can.

Others will chime in shortly. Let us know what the dealer says about this one. Again, welcome aboard mate!

280hp v6 and no trailer? Sounds a bit steep to me.

thanks for the quick feedback! please coach me up...is the 280hp weak for the 220 on Lake Tahoe? i've got two young sons so we will mostly just cruising with the family and grandparents. i'm sure some tubing, skiing, etc. but nothing too crazy.

The engine is just fine for the boat. A nice trailer is $6k I would target a $45k cost for boat by itself

Ok welcome glad you came to us for info. The 240 & 280 hp Volvo penta are v6 engines. 300 & 350 are 5.3 v8 engines. Your at a higher elevation so I would not want a v6 on Tahoe. You will lose power. With 2 boys power this baby up or your going to regret it.
Yes that is over priced. Search Gordys here in Wisconsin. They have a bunch of 280 hp 220s and they are much cheaper than that.

Yes Gordy's is a ways from you but still. That boat is 2 years newer and cheaper. I didn't look at the hours. Gordys sells alot of rental boats. Not bad to grab sometimes depending on the shape of them.

High elevation will require a prop change as it will be down on power. ( Add 1200.00 for Dealer install) .
If your looking for Tahoe boats you will find that they are geared for high elevation.
Keep shopping.. it’s fun!

We've turned out focus to some local boats near me. Any take on this 2006 220? Lake Tahoe boat...may be a overpriced without the trailer? Would love to hear some thoughts on this vintage of 220's if any one has experience.

I like the 2006 better because it has dual props and I'm not much of a tower guy. Would be nice to see some interior pictures. But at that price I'd want a trailer . The 2005 is missing daulprop but other than that I like it. As far this vintage 220's. I think they are great boats. Easy to trailer, handle waves well and feel sporty.

The 2006 is way over priced. Great boat though. The 2005 is a very good price. It's too bad it doesn't have a b3 drive. Not a deal breaker for me though. Jump on it. 35k.though

I like the 2005. Great options, easy To adapt to any activities or elevation.
Great resale as evident of pricing. Let’s do it

thanks for the quick feedback! headed up this saturday to meet with the dealer. not super stoked on the look of the tower on the 2005 but it seems to be a nice stepping stone into the world of boating on Tahoe. could maybe remove? will try to get it closer to $30k.

i've been looking around the site for recommendations on what to look for when buying a used cobalt...any specific issues we should be aware of with the 2005 or 2006 220's?

i'll snap some pics of interior and engine this weekend.

Really the 220 is a very solid boat. I don't wish I had anything else that could be missing. The tower can come off. Personally don't knock it till you try it. I love having it there when you get in the boat from the walk through. It gives you something to grab on to. Also docking and tying it up to me is easier to move the boat around on the dock. The binimi might be smaller though. But if you remove the tower you will lose the binimi. If you get that boat for anything under 35 your doing good. I wouldn't sell mine under 40. Yes I'm attached to mine and I put a bunch into it. I used to get a diff boat every year until the 220. So that's enough said there. It fits our family perfect. It's like what another member said get the boat that fits your needs.
If you have any questions when you go to look at it pm me or if you want to text me let me know. I know this model inside and out.
