Would love to see more responses here.... I'm in the same dilemma. Not sure if carpet or one of the pricey pad systems is the way to go...

I'm perplexed by the first post. Probably the reason.

I saw this same thread somewhere else.
Are you going to do this yourself? If you. Are a good sewer then you can get marine grade carpet off of the internet anywhere. But you will have to sew the edge on. You can go with cheaper vinyl /seagrass type flooring and you can leave the edges raw and add snaps to it. Infiniti carpet is on ebay and sells a bunch of that flooring. Some of us have switched to the current trend and went with Seadek type decking. It's very sharp looking and can get a bit costly but it's worth it. It's up to you. Dig or pay a upholstery shop to do it.

Is the OP saying the carpet in his 2000 is glued down? My '96 has snap in carpet, I thought carpet glued to plywood was an 80's thing. Either way, I've done it on my older boats and it SUCKS. It's not just getting the carpet up, it's getting all the leftover adhesive off the floor before you can put something else down that is back breaking and takes forever.

Okay early.... If you don't reply soon to your own post you may have consequences. Like for instance, Liquids wraith-hawk might fly over and poop in your boat. 😁 Your a retired guy so we all hope you find time to visit with us!

From your introduction pics it looks like you had snap in carpet. Is it all gone? If not, use it for a template.

Otherwise, your options...

Find a reputable boat flooring supplier. It's highly likely they'll already have a template for your boat. Decide on whether you want carpet or sea grass or seadek and order it. Buy a snap kit and install the snaps yourself to match what is in your floor. That's the DIY part.

Keep in mind, seadek is a trademarked name, but nobody knows what else to call it. It's like a Kleenex. We call all tissues Kleenex, but I'm not aware of another name for the spongymattboatflooring. So we call it seadek. Maybe we should call it floor rubber?

Or... you could get template paper and draw out the pieces yourself. Cut them out of a roll, then take them to an upholstery shop to have the borders/edges sewn in.

Or... you could order the template for your boat in the seadeck type material or seagrass from whoever you pick. That can snap in just like carpet. But you run the risk of tearing a snap out on removal with the seadeck. No so much with the seagrass. Be sure it's all snapped in good when trailering or you'll be doing this again.

Or... you can stick the seadek material down as it has sticky on the back.

Or.. leave it alone and swab the deck when it gets dirty. Like when Liquids hawk flies over.

And that's the easy process. I have no idea after the first paragraph what he was trying to say.
Watch out for the hawk thing though 🤔😂
