Hello everyone,
I recently picked up a 2000 Cobalt 206 off FB marketplace. I wasn’t really looking for a new boat as I had a pontoon I was going to restore but I was really getting bored with it as it just wasn’t fast enough (26mph) to get me where I wanted to go on our lake. (Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas)
So I just happened to be browsing and came across a 206 that was one owner and was in really good shape for 20 years old. I have seen 5 year old boats in worse condition!!
After a quick test drive I instantly knew this would be our next boat. I was thrilled with the smooth ride, quick hole shot offered from the duo prop and best of all no wood construction and in my price range!!
Previous boats have been a 1998 Baja Hammer with a 454 (First boat, learned a lot)
2003 Lowe Trinidad 224 with 90HP Johnson 2 stroke (Friend moved out of state and I ended up with this, not really my style)
Currently I have the Cobalt all torn apart to upgrade the stereo. It already was cut out under the dash for a 12” subwoofer and I wanted the speakers and subwoofer to match so that limited me to all kicker Speakers and subwoofer. They will be powered by a JL MX800 amp and a Fusion RA70N head-unit in the dash with MX300 controllers in the helm and stern factory remote locations.
Future plans are new steering wheel, marine mat stick down flooring, hydro dip all wood panels with a carbon fiber look, plugs/oil/impeller and a good overall waxing/cleaning.
