I have a 1989 21 bow rider and the chrome is lifting off the edges of all of my letters on both sides. Anyone have ideas on how I can get these repaired or rechromed? Are the letters made from metal that can be rechromed? I really hate to spend the money to buy a whole set of new letters for both sides. By the way these are 3 inch letters.

Its a cobalt she deserves new ones. Go spoil her

Call a dealer or the manufacturer first and see what they say and try to learn if the letters are metal or some kind plastic. I would suspect that they are plastic that are covered in a chrome material. The dealer should be able to give you an idea of what they would do as far as new letters or if they can have them re-chromed. If they are metal, you can find a shop that can do it. If they are plastic, then you are probably looking at having to buy new from the dealer.

If you have all the letters pull them off and have them wrapped with chrome vinyl. Typically the problem is people are missing letters which forces you to go to the dealer and pay big $$$.

What type of business would do the chrome vinyl wrap? I am in Houston. Thanks for your help.

I called a couple places that can wrap letter with chrome. The cost per letter would be higher than buying new letter from Cobalt or dealer, But, thanks for lead to check it out

wow really? what did they quote you for wrap?

it was chrome wrap. they said material is the most expensive at about $120/yard, plus lots of labor time to wrap each letter. Thus, said it would be higher than new letters at around $20 ea, depending on where you can find them. so I'm checking with dealers I can find open to learn availability and prices for 3" letters from cobalt.

You can buy the whole logo from Gordy's Marine. It matches the new R series, and they're about 50 bucks per side
