LOOKING FOR A SUNDECK & BACK SEAT 1994 COBALT 220

Hello, last fall i sent my sundeck and back seat from my 1994 Cobalt 220 boat to be recovered. They guy turned out to be shady and fully of more excuses than a porrcupine has needles. I can't get him to give them back so, I either need to find a place that might have some used one off a salvage that i can recover or reconstruct for my boat or find a place in the Oklahoma City surrounding area that can rebuild them from scratch. I can't tell you how sick this makes me. Lesson learned, background checks on people who want to work on anything of mine from now on. Any help steering me in the right direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks

That's a tough search - 1994 just isn't that old for a Cobalt. Any chance you could at least get the originals back with the help of the Sheriff or something? Maybe a small claims court-type thing?

Bigblock may know someone who can build something up without having the boat in front of them, but that sounds like it may be the harder route.

Where do you live. That's going to be a tough one. There are plenty of good shops out there but I would be afraid it would take most of the summer to get done. That would have been a good winter project. Any before pictures? The shop is going to want the boat while they make it. You could maybe Make a custom one also.

I really need to get an estimate to have one rebuilt, with the fiberglass underside for the motor/sundeck cover. Im going to go the small claims route, but I need a replacement value estimate from someone. The only place in Oklahoma City that does that is a place called Boatman's. Anyone know of someone who replicates those that can give me an estimate?

Your going to need a couple of estimates then. One from a body shop that does glass work then one from a upholstery shop. I'll check my contacts I think I know someone in your neck of the woods that does glass work. It's been a year since I talked to them. I sold them some graphics.

BB coming through!

Small claims definitely the way to go.

Why would someone keep the sundeck and backseat of an early 90's specific model boat??? What could they possibly do with it besides fix it? Is there a market out there for this kind of thing that I'm completely missing?

Well, I know of one guy who would buy one if it showed up on Ebay :)

Just joking - hope you get your original cover back and find a more reputable shop to help you out!

Who is the guy/shop that did this to you? Can you call him out? I do a lot of business in the OKC area and I sure don't want any dealings with them.

Likewise, steer clear of Superior Fiberglass west of Council on Reno. I had a really bad experience with them. I wouldn't take a lawnmower hood back there.
