Had a great day on the clear but ice cold water today.
I posted a little about our phase 2 stereo upgrade here.

Since then we went out and played various tunes on the water. After dropping my daughter and friends off at the beach I cranked up some PM thru the tower speakers and my nephew happened to record it...while almost a football field away!. Heck of a system Wet Sounds produces. Tough to beat horns on towers. Here’s a quick sample...

Also got a couple of pics to share. Gorgeous weather lately.

So that is why everybody on the shore looked at us funny this weekend as we were cruising by! :D They really project the sound a long way! This was our first weekend out with our new Rev 10's and I found out I need to plug in every night if we are going to be beaching multiple days.

Very true SF.
...and yes, I'm glad we have two heavy duty deep cycle batteries. One is a Trojan deep cycle the other is a hybrid. Cranked tunes for four hours and had no issues but you never know. We do carry a big block cranking NOCO at all times though just in case. :)

That really projects well. Can't believe how clear it sounded at that distance. I've read the 10's sound much better than the smaller horn loaded speakers at closer distances because of the size of the woofer adding more lows. Smaller speakers are "harsh" at closer distances, but sound good at distance.

Yes the rev10s have more bass I agree. A7 is pushing a ton more power through his. That's the bomb set up he went with. Revs like power. I have the rev8s and they still sound very good. I wouldn't say harsh. They really accent the cockpit speakers very well. You lose so much sound in a boat these really help out. I leave them on just at a lower volume helps alot. I wouldn't say they sound harsh at all. They sound much diff in person and not through a phone. They are very clear.

I haven't heard them in person. Just what I was reading from installers.

Honestly, those rev 8's sounded really good further back. As you got closer, I wouldn't say harsh, just not as musical?

As long as YOU are happy is all that matters. My opinion means squat.

I just scored a set of the JL m880's for the tower. We'll see how these sound. Not nearly as powerful as A7's setup. That's for sure. Going to start out with 200W RMS to each first. If that doesn't do it, going to try 300W RMS.

I however, plan on doing more partying behind the boat as opposed to skiing. That was my reasoning for going with the JL and not Wet Sounds tower speakers. (don't need to project as far)

Yes I have 300w going to mine. The sound on the vid is not as accurate as the sound really is. On my platform it sounds really good because you can hear the sub still. Even in the cockpit to me they add a nice sound to everything. Out the back is where the 10s shine as you get a bit more bass. I think they need to make a tower sub. That would help. Lol
You will love those JL towers though. Add power now just saying. You need to push them to get better sound.

Holy crap. That's crazy. I'm like that's in a boat just like mine. Lol

That's like $7,500 in speakers alone.

He's got to have a lot of amp power and batteries to run that.

Yeah BBP, pretty sure I'm going to just run the 300W

Funny thing is the wire that is supplied with the speakers is just 16 ga. I always overbuild my stuff. 12 ga wire for everything.

Edited your post for ya’ xl as per your wish. :P

Btw, in regard to speaker wire gauge options, here’s some things to consider:

Speaker wire gauge size takes into account three factors in relation to audio....
Resistance - affects energy, mainly heat dissipation
Capacitance - affects accuracy (thicker can actually be less accurate)
Inductance - affects fluctuations

16 gauge works fine for short wire runs to tower speakers. Like you, I prefer 12 gauge for this application.

Enjoy the music my friend...powerfully and accurately 8-) 🎢🎡

Thanks for the edit.

Never heard of capacitance. WTH is that?

Guess I need to follow the link you provided. Thanks
