2007 252 Depth Finder, Speedometer

Post by SamIAm »

Hi all,
I recently sold a pontoon and purchased a 2007 252 and it has been GREAT! We are exploring new parts of the river we didn't know existed as the big block 496 has much more range.

I have a couple of questions about the instruments (dash panel).

1. The stock depth finder was previously replaced with an un-functional hour meter (far left gage in photo). I think the original temp sensors and transponder are still in the boat. Can someone provide the original (or replacement) part number for the depth finder that would allow me to use the original sensors etc.? I believe the original DF also read the ambient and water temp?

2. The boat came with a Raymarine unit that has a depth finder...but it only works at 'wake' speed. Will the original DF work while underway (any speed)?

3. I would like to replace the speedometer with a GPS speedometer...any recommendations (that would match the other gages)?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Welcome! Lot of new 252 peers lately, I loce it!

Unfortunately you can’t get the original temp/depth units anymore, but there are plenty of options that will fit that area of the dash. Odd the one you have only reads depth underway, never heard of that before. Even a cheap Hummingbird unit will read depth when not moving.

I believe Faria made your gauges, so you can get a gps Speedo that will match, though you’ll get the same thing from a chart plotter if you plan to add one of those.

Thanks akorcovelos,
The Raymarine depth finder works when not moving and at wake speed...but it does not work at higher speeds while underway (does not read depth while traveling above wake speed). Is this common, or would a new DF work at any speed?
