Turning on Factory LED Lighting

Hi, need help and can’t seem to find the info I’m after.
Purchased a used 2015 R5 in 2016, it had 22 hrs on it.
Noticed a few weekendS ago a small remote in the cabinet to left of the head door, and my teenage son informed me it is for LED lighting. He then proceeded to show me where the strips are located.

We changed the tiny battery in the remote last weekend and worked for 10 minute on trying to turn them on. Remote is now working, red indicator on it lights up when u press a button on it.

If anyone can provide me some insights on this, would greatly appreciate it. Whole thing is driving me nuts.

Thanks!

I didn’t think the factory lighting came with those generic multi-key rgb remotes, I think it’s a controller built into the helm. Someone probably installed them, check up under the helm for the IR sensor and control box.

It's also prob powered by one of the accessory switches.

Hey Troy15. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Any pics of your R5? Yes definitely check your accessory switch. Remote will most likely be for changing colors or sequence once powered on.

Again welcome aboard mate!

upload pics of remote.

I THINK what you have is the remote that comes with cobalt. That Lights up 2-3 small LED white lights that are also controlled by a button on the helm. The Idea is when you get to your boat at night you turn them on so you see where to step and you don't have to get on the boat in the dark to turn the lights on.

The strip LED's that he found are the decorative LED's, there is a small "dial/Knob" like thing on the right side of the helm down underneath the steering wheel.
Pressing the wheel/dial turns them on, turning it rotates the colors. Multiple presses allows you to change brightness.

Thanks for your input and feedback on this!
If I can’t figure out will take down to my Cobalt dealer and grab a guy there to assist!

Would love to post pics of my rig, but haven’t figure out how to do that yet.

I will be with and on boat tomorrow thru Sunday. If I can’t figure out will snap some additional pics of my set-up and then upload them to this sight.

The switch beneath the helm on mine controls the accent lighting on the side of / base of tower. I’ll check it for advanced functionality also.

Thanks, we really like it! Moved to it from a Manitou tritoon with a 250hp engine hanging off the back.

Miss the toon on rough water days, our lake can turn into the ocean almost instantly. The trim tabs on the R really help in the rough water, definitely a must on these boats.

I’ve activated all switches on helm and depressed power button on remote. Box in engine bay has RF lead on it suggesting it’s the on/off brain. Appears that it also operates underwater lights that work.

Figured it out, might be helpful for someone:

Turn on underwater light switch AND turn on accent light switch under the helm

Works like a charm!
