Low or No Oil Pressure

Just bought a new 220S with VP 240 DP. Boat has gone through break-in period per manual. I have about 26 hours on it now. I just noticed that at idle or below 1500 rpm the oil pressure gauge (both the LED volume gauge and the selectable numeric gauge) show 85-90 psi. However, when throttling above 1500 rpm, at cruise or wot, both gauges show 0 psi.

I have checked the oil numerous times (the oil level is hard to see on that dipstick) and have added a quart. No change.

Is this a sending unit problem? Short? pickup issue?

Thanks.

Yes the sending unit could be messed up. Should be around 20 at idle and 60 wot maybe as long as she's not knocking all good right 😂👍

Oil pressure has always shown as 80+ psi at idle, even during test. The oil is hard to see on the dipstick. The manual states that it will burn oil during break-in and to check often. I'm wondering if it burned more than a quart and I'm just getting oil residue from the tube. Could low oil level result in the 0psi reading when throttling?

If it was really at 0 you would know. Likely sending unit issue, but isn’t it under warranty? The dipstick has an operating high/low marks on it, you should see oil on the stock somewhere between those marks. If you’re not showing oils on the dipstick add until you do, or better yet do an oil change so you know for sure.

Thanks. Yes, it is under warranty. Boat is in the water (actually dry stacked) - no trailer, so taking it in is a bit of a pain. I'll call the service dept at the dealer.
