Was there a badge in this place on the dash?

Looks like this adhesive will be hard to remove, so I'd prefer to put back what was there ( on my 2001 226).

I don't see any stock badge or anything there in old photos of cobalt boats - perhaps it was something the previous owner stuck there and did a poor job of removing? The wood will lighten up some with exposure to to the sun, but taking off adhesive like that without affecting the finish can be tough. I usually try water, mineral spirits, and methyl ethyl ketone in that order.

These boats use wood on the dash? Wow, I would have thought it was simulated. I'll tread carefully.
Thanks

My buddy Matt didn't have the wood. Nothing down in the corner. Or you can remove it and refurbish it.

Try WD-40. Saturate it and then just rub the heck out of it for a while then blot it with a rag. The second you out water in there it will become significantly more difficult to get the adhesive off. After it's gone completely then use a little soap and water to remove the WD-40. When I was competing we used his stuff that was sticky as all hell and ruined everything it touched for the stone events and WD-40 was the best for cutting it without irritating the skin too much.

In case this helps, we did receive a badge last week from Cobalt which read "designed and built especially for" with our names added. We thought it was a nice touch although, since we bought it off the showroom floor, we didn't do much designing.
The badge was 3.5 x 2 inches with an adhesive back. Of course we have no idea how long Cobalt has been doing this but this is a likely culprit for your spot.
Hope this helps.

Nicad, just had a thought. Rather than trying to remove the adhesive, call Cobalt and ask them to send you one with your name. Tell them your boat is special & you don't want to ruin something with chemicals.
Good luck.

Great suggestions. I did some detailing today on the vinyl, and I must say, I have bonded with this boat.
Not like the other boat I recently acquired, an Edgewater 15.5 with a Tohatsu 90 HP. Really not liking that one. Good Boat, Bad Boat.

That is where they had their personalized badge, as mentioned earlier. Cobalt will make a new one for you at no charge- I had it done for my 226 last year after I bought it.
