Ceramic coating

I get a lot of hard water spots and spend a significant amount of time wiping down the exterior of the boat after use. I just got a quote for ceramic coating which I’m going to pull the trigger on. They also offered to do the vinyl in the interior for an additional 850 (this includes a detail clean before the application). Has anyone done the ceramic coating on the vinyl? People that have had the ceramic coating what is your experience with it???

Be careful with ceramic, it requires special care and when it’s time to reapply removal is an expensive endeavor. I wouldn’t put anything on the vinyl, but it’s your boat. You’ll still need to wipe it down after use too, don’t let them tell you otherwise.

You can buy alot of hot sauce for that and viynl conditioner. Just saying.
Some guys really like it though.

Get yourself a bottle of boat bling hot sauce and a microfiber mop. How I keep the spots off my R7. Never have an issue. I looked into ceramic and I do not trust myself to do it. And I am not paying someone 2 grand to do my boat in it.

I don't think a ceramic coating will wear as well on a gelcoat where it's constantly being hit with water as you drive around as it might on a car. Do they have an estimated life expectancy? It would be good to hear from some people who had it done at least a couple years ago.

I had asked about this when I bought my navy colored vessel and the dealer did not recommend it yet. Actually, they commented that it sometimes takes longer to remove the ceramic coating to perform repair than it does to do the actual repair in many cases. For this reason I went with the Bling Hot Sauce as recommended on this board. It works awesome. I’m waiting to see if ceramic becomes recommended over the years.

One of the reasons I love (can't get myself to day "loce") this site is the amount of stuff I've learned. We are using the Hot Sauce and Condition Sauce on the interior. Easy to use and doesn't take much time. I use Hot Sauce when we're in a hurry and don't have time for full hull cleaning. So far, wife is using Condition Sauce maybe three times a year.
