8.1 Gi-c sluggish hole shot and sputter at wot

Took the new to me 03 262 out for our maiden voyage.
On the hose, it runs fine/normal. The only thing I notice is it’s kinda cold natured for a fuel injected engine.
On the lake it just doesn’t pull out of the hole. It just gradually gets up on plane. It cruises fine. If you push the throttle 3/4 to wide open it will begin to sputter and sometimes stall until you pull back on the throttle.
Also, it just doesn’t seem to be turning rpm’s like it should. My tach doesn’t work
The guy I bought it from mentioned the same issue and he changed the fuel pump assembly( his words). The tester is showing 45 psi on the rail key on pump on. When pump quits it drops to 40 and holds. It’s been there for 30 minutes now. At idle and if I rev it it holds at 40 psi. These numbers seem good based on what I have been able to find.
There was just over 1/4 tank of fuel in the boat. I poured the contents of the fuel filter into a clear plastic container. I saw just a bit of water settle and just a couple pieces of trash. I cut the filter open and it looked new inside. Fuel was clear and looked normal but after sitting out for an hour it turned cloudy. Does this tell me anything?
I have not been able to check the pressures under load.
Any ideas what could be my problem?
I was expecting a throttle body type injector system but mine has 8 injectors.
Also, any suggestions on getting the tach working would be appreciated

Possibly water as it will miss due to it inability to combust or compress.
WithOut.. a running diagnostic ( tach not working won’t indicate ignition trigger disrupt ) .
As it does sound fuel related give us a report after fresh fuel is added.
Then we can help you throw parts at it.

Sounds like water on the fuel, top it off with premium ethanol free and take it for an Italian tuneup!

Should also be running 50 psi from hp pump 8 to 10 low pressure. Remove fuel pressure reg and look for paint in the screens. Could remove hp pump and check for paint in the screen there too. Watch man cave mechanic on you tube. Great info from him.
Yes your fuel is junk. Yes the 8.1 is a 8 injector system

This is what settled out
I estimate I pumped 40 gallons of gas out of this thing. What a waste.

You’ve got bad gas brother.
Drain the tank by doing the following ....
Remove the panel covered in carpet under the rear bench seat. (Roughly six screws plus the 2 scupper hoses and 4 hose hold down clamps).
Remove the fuel sender on top of the tank.
Suck out the phase separated gas.
Reinstall sender sealing with gasket sealer.
Reinstall panel & hoses.
Fill with ethanol free gas.
Nice job changing water separating filter.
That 262 will jump on plane and you’ll see 55-57 mph top end.

I hooked a pump to the fuel line and pumped it til it stopped. I raised the bow with the jack and got a bit more. You think that’s good enough?

That should get most of it. Not as thorough as opening the tank but it may do my friend. Now use pure gas app and find Ethanol free gas around you. Fill’er up half way and test. You’ll be amazed.

I hope you are right.
I had a college buddy and his family with us Sunday. His wife was so excited Saturday night about the prospect of skiing again and I was excited at the opportunity to teach his teenage daughter to ski. I didn’t think he boat was up for pulling so we just cruised for a while
I’ll let y’all know. Thanks!

I would also run a additive with techron in it. Change the fuel separator again too. Just me.

I hooked the pressure tester up to a small port under one of the pumps. Toward the bottom of the assembly. I’m getting fuel thru the port as I hook up the tester so I’m sure the Schroeder valve is open.
When I key the ignition I’m getting zero pressure at this port.
What is this port and what is this telling me.
Bad low pressure pump?
I’m gonna try and see if it’s getting voltage

I have voltage at the plug. I hit wired it and it pumped up to 12 psi
My paint delivery guy showed up and worked the key for me. I held the connector on the pump and it ran. I’m wondering if it was connected properly by the installer.

Cranked again on hose. Pressures at the rail were the same at key on and idle.
The engine did sound more aggressive as I throttled it.
I’m gonna have to drop it in a lake to see if I’ve accomplished anything.
