Fender covers

Hey folks,
I am new to the forum. Just bought my first boat ( 2001 206 5.7 Volvo penta).
I noticed the rubber (or whatever) fenders are scratching my beautiful Cobalt Blue gelcoat. I see that there are fender covers available, but not cheap. My question: do these fender covers reduce the scratching or are the more for appearance or sun protection. I’ll pay the price, just want to know if it’s of value.

Hey Howie. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Folks here really seem to like them both for their looks and protection. We’ve actually thought about purchasing some ourselves. Be sure to get the right size.
Any pics of your Cobalt?

I have them as well. I like the looks more than anything. Do they help sure, do they stop the scuffing no. Are they worth it. Every penny. Cobalt will run a sale for black Friday and some other times as well. That's the time to grab them. Oh welcome.

I'm not into buying the Cobalt branded items at the extra cost. I went all in on the Polyform fenders (F-2 size), and their EFC-2 fender covers. Can't say enough about them. We have been extremely happy using them.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I’ll pick some up at my local West Marine. They are getting to know my face around there. I bought this boat thinking it was well equipped.....and it was, but “making it my own” is another matter. $$$ but fun too. I am sure everyone is shaking their heads yes.
Full of questions. I’ll be tapping your expertise in the weeks to come on other topics.

JTinMO - did you ever consider the G series or, is that over kill for a c3? Also, you're saying the fender covers REALLY work and don't scratch the hull up?
