For my Southern Brothers

We had the grandbaby with us a couple of weeks ago, and my wife figured we would need a little additional shade. She found one of those triangle sun shades on Amazon for 25 bucks. It's 10 x 10, and what is really cool as you can throw it over the top of your bimini and hang each stainless steel ring on the midship cleats, then pull the Apex over the tail down to the ski tow. It fits perfect! You can still see, but you get a little shade in the back and a little extra shade down the sides. Then if we really need it we clip a beach towel to the front, but only when the baby was on board. I don't have any pictures of the thing on my boat, but I'll try to get some posted later. This is a screenshot of what we bought.
I know how hot it can get in the southern states.
You guys up north that never open your Bimini and swim around in ice water like a freaking polar bear wouldn't understand...

In Texas in July and August we can use all the shade we can get.

FYI,
This weekend it was 102-104 here in Austin. Others have stated here that their carpet gets extremely hot. I have the old school sand colored weave / wave patterned thicker carpet. Had no problem. Conducted the bare foot test after carpet in the sun for 3 hrs in the bow. Carpet was warm, but not hot. Not even close to being too warm to stand on.
I don't think it looks as good as the darker colors, or the sea grass, but it my climate it seems like the way to go. I didn't consider the color when I bought the boat. Just got lucky.

That sounds like a great solution. Not in the "South" per se, but it does get warm here in Arizona
Anyway, could you post a pic of how you installed it? I understand you instructions, just would be good to see it as well. I did a search on Amazon for "Alion 10' x 10'" and it came up with nada. Once you confirm the size can you include the full name of the manufacture as well. This is my next gottahave for the boat. To be clear, this is a triangle tarp where all three sides are equal length? I saw some that were longer on one side.

Can you share a pic of your carpet? I may have have mine replaced. Burned my feet again yesterday on my gray close knit carpet. I have to wear water shoes/sandals while on the boat if I ever walk out from under the bimini.

Dan I'll measure and see what it is for sure. It's super easy to put up. The long tail goes to the rear on the ski hook and the sides go on the midship cleats. I swear it's like it was made for the boat! On my 240 the walk thru is on the starboard side, so it's makes it easy to get in and out on the swimdeck. She ordered it from Amazon. Do a search for patio triangle sun shade and it'll pop right up.

Thanks for the info. I have an R5 and this may be a good solution coming off the front of the tower/bimini or going across the rear, depending on the sun angle. We spent quite a bit of time anchored and swimming this past weekend and the extra shade would be welcome.

oh I think we hit 80 finally.lol yes maybe 83. Might have to turn the furnace off now.lol
I heard Texas has a slight climate change going on right now for sure.

I'm not around to take pictures of my carpet right now, but I dug up some shots I have with the carpet in the pics. You can see that it is thick enough that it has a pattern to it. I think that Cobalt called it a weave or wave pattern. The color seems to me to be sightly lighter than shown in the photos.

I'm not close to my boat right now and may not be for a couple of weeks so I can't measure my sun shade. My wife actually ordered the thing quite a while ago and can't find any record of it, and she doesn't remember the dimensions either. I suspect it's bigger than 10 x 10 since the beam is 8.6 and it comes down each side to the midship cleats.
Probably a good plan would be to measure from the front leading edge of your bimini back to the ski hook or ski pylon and then buy a sunshade accordingly. Ours is not tight or snug at all, but it's not floppy either if that makes any sense. I swear it's like the thing was made for our boat. She said they come in several different types of fabric and several colors to choose from. On Amazon there are 957 selections of sunshades so I'm sure you can find the one you need for your application. Just search triangle sun shade and they'll pop up.

Here you go. I posted this in another thread and realized they should be put here for future reference.
This is my redneck solution to a hot hot day. You have to measure from your mid cleet up over your Bimini down to the other side and from your tow hook or ski pylon up to the rear of your Tower or biminy to get an idea of the size you'll need.
I roll it up and keep it under one of the front seats. Super easy to put on and take off when you need it.
