Aside from going to a local upholstery shop and having something custom built....has anyone made any kind of tower cover to keep the bugs and road grime off their tower while towing? And same thing for the wakeboard racks? Dealer said he has seen clients wrap it with shrink wrap before travel but kind of takes the wow factor away from pulling into the ramp area with a beautiful clean boat! ;) Any ideas?

We emailed back and forth, ended up getting a pair of covers that he already had made up for the Samson Typhoon spinners, made of his premium fabric which is soft and wont scratch for $75 shipped. They are in the mail already. He also has entire tower covers made and sitting in a warehouse but is unable to sell because of his insurance company refusing to insure them...they are afraid they will come off and wrap around someone's windshield. I get the liability issue...I'm an insurance agent by trade...but he's got a product engineer working on a design change. I don't see why he couldn't incorporate something like the bimini boot cover does with a zipper that follows the backside of the tower and then 3-4 of the large Velcro wraps...I'll attach pics when they come in and I get them installed.

Was in the market for the same thing and ended up talking with a custom canvas shop local to me and they had no problem figuring out what i wanted. Helped he had a tower on his boat and had the same issues as i did. I have it scheduled to be made in 4 weeks will post pictures of completed work.

What did he quote you for a cost? And what material?

700 to 1000 black sunbrella material with a felt backing to prevent scratches. His plan was to make the boot go over the tower and wrap the bimini top and rails as well with separate zippers starting from each side of cockpit. He also is planning an attachement of some sorts to the mooring cover for securement while trailering

Let me know what the final product looks like...i want to get something for mine before we really get into boating season. I like the idea of a felt backed Sunbrella type material but I would think that if it is good and snug, there shouldnt be any need to attach it to the main cover for trailering? I had talked to the guy at Speakersox where I got my rack covers from...he has a cover designed and on tour on one of the factory boat tours like Nautique I think but cant sell any until his insurance company gets a report back from how the cover did on tour? They are afraid of the liability on it if it were to come off while being towed. I get it, I'm in the insurance business...but he had it designed with zippers from middle to ends on both sides as well as velcro fasteners that wrapped very similar to the bimini boot that comes on the factory towers. It wouldnt come off but. I may go see an upholstery shop and see what they can do for me here as you did.

I would think they could sew on a return to address for the owner and avoid a insurance claim on losing the cover

That's funny right there AJ...been in this crazy insurance business for 25 years and seems common sense would go a long ways, not just in my industry but in general these days....
