New Cobalts discounted

Learned this morning that the two guys who own dealer where I bought my boat in April are retiring & closing dealership. They have 3 2017 Cobalts left: CS3/300 hp Merc, msrp $97,275, R3/300 hp Merc,Msrp $113,617 & R5/380 hp Merc, $143,109. They are discounting each at 30% off. You can go to their website Theboatingcenter.com & get more info. They are located in Crestwood, Ky just out of Louisville. The owners/salesmen are Dave & George, both very nice guys. You can use my name if you like as I told them I would put this info on the forum. They have someone really close to buying the R3.
Just thought if you are looking at these models, these seem like great prices, particularly on the R series boats. Let me know if I can help further. Good luck.

I hate to be a boner killer here, but from my recent buying experience, there are a couple of issues at hand that I would like to clarify.
First,
Cobalt's dealer network forbids a dealer to sell a new boat in another dealers territory. Used boats, yes. New boats, no.
Un-American in my opinion, but I get it.. it's about profit protection for boat dealers and regulating service.
Second,
"If" they can sell you a boat, they can do a lot better than 30% off MSRP.

Tuscany, did not know about the dealer set up. That's something I've never heard of. I would always prefer to buy local but not if I was paying 15-20% more.
I'm curious as to how much you can get off of msrp. What is a reasonable number?
Thanks

Right. That would be funny to watch texting and derby.

unless they are a year old already. Which they could be coming close? Depends when they got them? Im ok with that rule.I get it. The bad is of your dealer isn't willing to deal then your out of luck.

That's exactly right BB.
If your local dealer is the kind of guy who plays hardball, then you are screwed.
I personally have a dealership owner who values moving boats more than playing hardball.

If I was a owner I like the volume vs just a few and make a killing on a few poor soles. Lot more happier customers when they think they got a good value. There's plenty of things you need to buy and and get done on a boat to make money on.

Are they closing up shop, or just getting out of Cobalt? They are local to me as well. I just found out today during a call w/Cobalt that they were no longer dealers. I'm interested in there parts inventory.

They are closing up shop effective at the end of the year. They said that they hope someone will pick up Cobalt but had no info on that. They also carry Regal. Don't know how big of an inventory they might have but it's a fairly small dealership. They plan on offering full service until they close.

I have an inside tip they are being picked up. A guy on another board was just asking about cobalt and regal because he was going to become a dealer. Seems too unlikely to be purely coincidence
