Have a Volvo 5.8 FSI-DP on my 2004 COBALT 222. My mechanic says oblong muffs will work best on my outdrive unit. Hoping one of the smart mechanic types here can reply with mfg. and part number info and where to buy [amazon or another]? Thanks in advance for the courtesy of a reply and for your help. Happy COBALT guy. Best to all. Stay safe and boat on...

I didn't know they were using ford blocks then?
I take it there is no water line to connect to inside by the engine?
These look like a good pair of muffs. I haven't had to use muffs in years.

I bought and used muffs from amazon that worked perfect. Sold by Harvard Marine, the muffs are made by Shoreline Marine and are called motor flusher dual flow (ASIN : B07VWDPS42)

I have those muffs and while they do work pretty well, they don't seal 100% due to the width of the VP lower unit (it has convex sides). I've never had a problem with it, just saying that you will see some water not get into the outdrive.

As for the engine flush, I was advised by a dealer on my old boat not to run the engine on that...why, I'm not sure..

If you run on the engine flush... water isn’t going to the raw water pump !

Even Volvo Penta says to not run on flush connection.

I've been running mine for years on the flush port. Your fine.

Ahh yes. Ya’ll must have blue caps

I don’t. My flush connection just goes to bottom of block.
