Trailer Safety Before Use When Left at Public Ramp

If you leave your trailer at any public lot while you are visiting a destination I highly recommend you go over everything thouroughly before using it again. I missed that a vandal removed my swing away tounge rod/pin and I almost killers myself going down a mountain. No damage to boat or trailer. Just have to fix wiring. Couple thousand dollars of damage to car from winch handle hitting back door and hole in bumper from trailer hitting car. Never had anything like this happen to me before. A marine part store said several others went through the same thing as me in the past week.

They probably thought it was funny no doubt. Just once I'd like to catch someone doing something like that. Of course my wife says I'd end up in jail, and she's probably right..
Glad you didn't get hurt. Too bad about the damage but it looks like it could have been much worse.

Yes thank you. Could had been a tragic situation. Glad it wasn't. Amazing what idiots do or think is funny. I would end up in jail too if I caught them

Yes that's very good idea top pass around. I don't check 100% of the time but I do most of the time. At night if I stay in a hotel I also park under the lights in the parking lot. Glad your ok.

Had someone steal my winch handle once. I now take that off and leave it in my SUV storage while boating or storing.

Sure stinks to try to unload and load your boat without it!

That is very common in Illinois. I never heard of that before this year. They all buy spares and take theirs off also.
