Took the boat to Cabbage key yesterday. Before hitting open water I decided to top off the fuel tank. The fuel gauge showed a half a tank. I took on a little over 40 gallons to fill. The water was flat calm. With 3 of us and a full tank I maxed out at 58 MPH The way home the ride was just as smooth. It was a fun day on the island. https://cabbagekey.com/

Sounds fun. What do you have for a motor?

Yes GPS Speed. I've had the boat for almost two years now and I've never seen that speed. 53 54 never 58. I don't know if it was the flat calm water or I got lucky with the trim just right or the GPS was a little off. My next trip when the weather gets better is Cayo Costa State park. https://www.floridastateparks.org/cayocosta

Nice. Ironically the better speed with boat runs occurs during a light chop not smooth water. That way the hull can aerate reducing parasitic drag. Maybe you had a nice tailwind. :D

It had to be something. The only time we bounced is when we ran into a wake from a boat passing coming from the opposite direction. I'm really enjoying exploring this area. I'm also making good use of the twin Garmin screens. I set them both to navigation charts when I'm in an unfamiliar area. One zoomed in and one further out. Today the weather isn't good again. Rain and cold. I took a car ride past my Cobalt dealer in Cape Coral. I was very surprised how few boats he has in stock. Glad I bought when I did. I bet it would be very hard now to make a deal.
