I'm working on a R6 Surf build and am trying to decide between these two. I currently own a 2019 R5 and it has Sea Grass. One thing I like about the Sea Grass is the ability to unsnap the sections and clean. I keep a small portable vacuum in the boat and I clean up every 3-4 outings. However, this is also something I don't like about the Sea Grass is the amount of junk that gets under it. Also at the end of the season I remove all of the Sea Grass, hose it down, and then scrub the floor. I did have Sea Deck installed on the rear platform and am familiar with that kind of surface. The main draw back I face with it is keeping the dark spots removed. The Sea Deck is grey and for some reason it seems to stain fairly easy. I can't figure out which one long term is going to be better.

Looking for some feedback from those that have Sea Deck or Soft-Trac Matt throughout their boat. Would be nice to hear from people that have owned boats with both and which they liked better.

The sea grass is going to last longer. You can get snap In sea dek. I have had no issues getting my Mat clean. Anything that snaps in is going to get stuff under it so your not going to get away from that. I personally like the mat.

I love my sea dek, it is glued down so nothing gets under it, which always annoyed me.

I clean it a couple times a year with boat juice a stiff brush and a hose. Spray, brush with the grain, hose off done. Long handle on the brush so I don't have to bend down, cleans very easy boat is done in 5 to 10 min.
My past boat was carpet so I can't speak to sea grass, but both snap. This is much faster than unsnapping pulling off the boat cleaning the carpet, then on the boat again cleaning the floor then after the flooring is dry putting it back on the boat.

I have sea grass inside my boat then the marine Mat on my swim platform. If I was building another boat I would do the same combo. Sea grass is easy to clean as just remove and spray it off with a hose or pressure washer. Then dry and back in. My swim platform sucks to clean. On your hands and knees scrubbing.

It beats someone slipping and falling.

Tgrace try something like this and get off your hands and knees.

Also scrubbing with the grain is the easiest way to clean.

True ‘dat! (My daughter just said that to me. Cracked up.). Down the road being this summer. Priority items first ... Tower speakers + amp in the works now.

I've had seagrass in the interior of last two boats and soft-trak on the platform on last one, but not current boat. Found the soft-trak a) too hard to keep clean as others have noted above, and b) hot as asphalt with the sun on it--I kept having to splash water on the platform so people could sit on the upper level without scorching their buns off. No way would I get it in the interior.

what color and brand did you have on your swim platform? I have never had heat issues on mine.

I recently saw the soft track stuff on a new R6 and it's WAY different than what they have on the R5. The R5 seems more spongy and doesn't feel like it will hold up to the sun for long, but the R6 stuff seemed more stiff and rigid, but still soft. I opted for the soft track on my build.

I hope the soft-trac isnt hot as hades and hard to clean. Its on the wife's list of request.

Tan, ordered new on my 2014 220S so whatever brand Cobalt was using at the time (I think Sea-Dek)

I have the same on my 2014 220s. It is marine mat. The upper section peaked off last summer....I need to get new stuff put on
