new member - greetings from Iowa

New member introduction - I grew up on the water. Between lake life growing up in Iowa to spending summers offshore fishing with my grandfather(a retired navy vet). My greatest memories have been made on the water. My youth was spent on a 20' Century open bow. This could be why I like the classic brick boats... This last spring I purchased my first Cobalt a 1995 253 7.4 Volvo. Enjoyed the summer weekends of 2020 quarantined on Lake Rathbun.
I've always been mechanical. Was an automotive dealership technician for 16 years before making the switch to sales. With that being said, I'm looking into the possibility of a project boat. Going to look at a 19CD this weekend. Will update you guys on which direction I decide to go. Looking forward to chatting and sharing with fellow Cobalt owners.

I'll post some pictures of my 253 and the possible project when I log in from my phone. Cheers

Nice Dustin! I was born in Fonda. My Grandparents had a house on Storm Lake. Had family on Big and Little Spirit Lake as well.

Been through Fonda many times. Big Spirit is one of my favorite lakes. Nice 253, very clean.

That could be a new boat from the pictures, not old enough to buy its own beer! Congrats on your boat, and thanks for joining us here,

John

That’s a 25 year old boat? Mercy. She looks great. I envy your mechanical skills. I’m somewhat mechanically declined now. I bet she spins like a top.
Iowa is a great state full of really nice folks, but dang it can get cold. I spent some thrilling times in my public accounting days in places like Colfax, Harlan, Sioux City, Ames, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. I’m a farm boy at heart, and the people I came to know there hold a special place in my heart.

Hey from down south.
Welcome. Hope you get a lot of enjoyment from your boat and help here if you need it.
Some of these threads are also entertaining.
