New docking lights

Looks like Cobalt changed their docking lights for 2018.
The only reason I ordered them was for appearance. The hull looked totally naked in the front without them. Pretty useless light output though.
The new ones don't offer the same degree of style, but they are probably a nice LED update.

I got the new 2018 lights, with the three 10 or 12mm (or so) LEDs in each housing. While they don't appear to do much while in the middle of the lake with nothing to shine on, holy crap do they light up the marina, and in almost a full 180° pattern. From straight on they are basically blinding. I got off the boat and walked to the front once we docked with them still on, and instantly felt bad for anyone who may have been anywhere near us. I kind of wish they weren't so bright.

I would not consider having a cobalt without docking lights as I like the look so much. IMHO the older style docking lights have a much more aggressive stance.

However I can count on one hand the number of times I used them. They were plenty bright for me to load our cobalt onto the trailer at night. Certainly not LED bright though.

BB changed his to LED bulbs. I'm going to do the same this winter when I get Blew home along with a host of other things.

The ramps we use are lit up like a football stadium, but IMO, the stainless light housings are a signature "Cobalt" look.
I would be interested in retrofitting to LED if we used them if we used them. The halogen light output rivals a church candle :D . But, they are purely astetics for me.
I'm surprised Cobalt changed the housing look.

I noticed on the '05 263 we just purchased that the docking lights and housing look converted to LED. We like this "newer" look--modernized yet still aggressive looking.

It will be interesting to see if they are as bright as notstockforlong's.

I'm curious as to where you purchased your LED bulbs, Bfun220?

Oh good, Thanks! I'll wait to order until after I hear how they fit and work. BB put some in he had to shim because they fit loose. You might be prepared for that just in case

I check the height of these before ordering. Should be the same as the bulbs presently installed. But I will update with pictures.

Use mine when I'm coming into the dock at night. They light up the dock pretty well when I come in. They reach further than it seems when they've got something to reflect off of. I think they are set parallel with the water ahead, and not down at all.
