Hello All,

I have already benefited from the bank of knowledge on this Forum so I thought it best to introduce myself.

I have owned my 222 since new (2007) and as most boat owners, used it a lot the first several seasons. Living in the midsouth, our season will run well into October with warm water temps for wake boarding or skiing.

We have been snowbirds for the last several years living on a SOB (Some Other Boat) and the Cobalt was reserved for the grandkids. They are just coming of age to waterski so I am hoping the boat will get a better utilization.

I love the "dispatch reliability" of a Cobalt. These boats are built great and with the proper maintenance, they will last a generation or two!

Yes the shelf life of Cobalt surpasses my previous boats as well.
You should make a factory tour trip if available as it will re affirm your loyalty.

The boat is in the hangar for winter storage and will go back in the water when the grandkids get out of school. I live just east of Memphis and we use the Cobalt at Pickwick Lake where we also keep our winter home berthed. For the last 9 years we have been snowbirds on our DeFever 53 trawler taking her down and back to the Gulf Coast every winter. We normally take the DeFever down in November and return in May via the Tombigbee and would commute to Detroit from Pensacola during those times.

I retired from Delta Air Lines (former Northwest guy) in May of 2019 after 40 years and 6 months of driving airliners around the world. I spent a great deal of my career on the Queen of the Skies (Boeing 747) but finished on the Airbus A350. Delta parked the B747 in December of 2017 and I had the privilege of flying the very last passenger B747 of a U.S. carrier from Inchon, South Korea to Detroit, Michigan (being old and senior did have benefits)

I will try my best to get those pictures. I scoured my hard drive and can't find what I need.

If you were Northwest pilot flying out of Memphis, you might know my sister, Sheila Gross. She worked for Northwest a long time and for a while was doing pilot check in. I remember pilots really took care of her at Christmas because she covered them a lot during the year.
We trailered to Pickwick from Hernando one time. Eventually we decided Greers Ferry Lake was worth the extra hour drive.

Yes, I remember Sheila and YES she did take good care of us. We would often call to "check in" while tied up in the 240 parking lot.

Greers Ferry lake is a much cleaner and clearer lake than Pickwick. If it had access to the intercoastal waterways, that is where I would want to be.

You should post in the “what do you do for a living” thread with your final pic showing the retirement ceremony fire trucks spraying the arches as you taxi thru it.

First off Rusty, Thanks for joining us. I admire your trips on the DeFever. I lived aboard my Grand Banks 47 footer for years on the west coast. Based in Everett, Washington. I'm also a pilot since 1960 but private pilot. Cessna 310 and my favorite of all time , the Cessna 182 Skylane. My son in law was a senior pilot for Delta. Mostly 747 which he loved. His name is Don Huffmaster...maybe you know him. He's retired now. Age got him.
