Baby/Doggy Gate

I have an old beagle who has done most of her boating in a pontoon, essentially fully enclosed. But with the walk-thru transom on my new R5 she wants to venture to far out for my and my wife's comfort. She is not as spry as she used to be, and has never had a desire to swim, so I don't even know if she can dog paddle. I am looking for something akin to a baby gate for the walk-thru until that time she becomes comfortable with the new ride and settles back down. Any suggestions?

I haven't found a baby gate option but there are waterproof leads. I find that in my R3 attaching a 6ft lead to the passenger seat frame that flips allows the dogs to move but not get too close to the edges when underway.

That shouldn’t be too hard to make yourself.

My 262 has a small gate that can block the walk thru to the swim deck. You will see it hinged on the right side in the pic

Snap off the piece of sea grass that is on the step that separates the swim platform from the cockpit. Take it to an upholstery shop. Ask them to make a tall outdoor foam cushion (try to match the color of the cobalt vinyl) with the same profile and about 12" high (measure from the step to the top of the rear facing bench sitting- I'm guessing it's about 12"). Have them a include tabs with snaps on the bottom. Snap this custom cushion on the step and now you have a tall cushion that separates the cockpit from the swim deck and you don't have to drill any holes. Cobalt offered this from the factory on the 273 (but not on the R series) and man I wish I had a picture of it.
