Why is Captain's Call no longer an option?

For years when building a boat you could factory order Captains call, even in the catalytic converter era of now. I don't see that Cobalt has it as an option on the new R8- don't see it on the Chaparral build site either. Dealer says it would have to be a custom dealer option. ??

Odd that sucks. Check crownline or formula I bet they still offer it. They are always wrecking a good thing 😢

R30 hasn't been refreshed yet.

My guess is 1 of 2 things. Either Cobalt is moving away from it as it could cause a health issue should you pull a tuber/skier to close to the boat with the exhaust going out the transom and not the prop.

2 maybe corsa has not designed it yet for the new hulls.

It has never been an option on the surf series due to wake surfers being to close to the back of the boat and they could get smog poisoning. it could very well be since they are using 1 hull for 3 different boats that they will not offer it.

I'm not sure I'll miss it on the next boat anyway.

When disengaged, they sound like grandma's old sewing machine. I've complained several times with no fix.

Aside from that, they've replaced the solenoids twice because they wouldn't engage (especially when warm). It wasn't until I questioned the wire size going to the solenoid that they rewired it and haven't had an issue since. I had a theory that the solenoids drew too much current causing a "lazy" or no solenoid movement due to voltage drop. I turned out right as the voltage at the solenoid was under 10 volts (when the engine was warm and running).

Bad design by both Corsa (because they are loud) and Cobalt (because of insufficient wiring). On top of that, you pay a huge premium for a "fun button" that doesn't work half the time.

Bully can you change the tips and make it sound diff? Talk to corsa directly?
Get a 8.2 on your 2022 and CC you might be a bit happier with the sewing machine sound. Just saying 👍

Haha! Good call on the BB. I'd expect no less from you. ;)

I may end up trying Corsa directly, good point. If you hold on to the linkages, they quiet right down. They've been adjusted by both the dealership and me without helping. Maybe there are other solutions I haven't read about yet. Thanks for chiming in.

I’ve been coming around on it, as in twin BB sound. My friend has a Formula Fastech with twins and some kind of flow thru mufflers that smooth it out to perfection... magical!
