Sad changes in the dealer network

I just got an announcement from Cobalt that my dealer I purchased from is no longer part of the network and have named a new dealer in MN. I confirmed this. . I have several friends who have purchased other brands of boats at this new dealer and the experiences have been terrible-and their reputation is among the worst in the state. Very dissapointing. I guess it's all part of the master plan. PM me if you want details.

That sucks, did you express your concern to cobalt?
I am not sure it will change anything but if they hear from enough people it likely will.

I sent you a PM. I saw an email from Cobalt saying River Valley was added as a dealer but it didn’t say that an existing dealer was dropped.

I hope not! I was just on the phone with them yesterday to order the pin for my swim step and they didn’t say anything. I also ordered my mooring cover from them and that wont be in for a couple months.

Sorry for everyone's loss. Its very hard to lose a dealer you can trust. I would rank that higher than when we had to switch Drs because our new health ins didnt accept them.

So Erickson last Cobalt? Shoot! My CS23 should be here in August at Erickson! Think it’s fine to still go there for service and warranty work?

I would think a lot of the service needs would be about the engine/outdrive. Current dealer should be able to maintain either Volvo or Merc.

I would think that Erickson will still service the Cobalts they sold but as far as warranty work I don’t know how that would be handled. I still plan on bringing my boat there for service but it’s out of warranty. I really like the people at Erickson Marine! They are a great bunch of people!

The year before we purchased our R5 from Erickson we looked at a boat that River Valley had at the boat show and I can’t say I had a warm and fuzzy feeling from the salesman we talked to. I was saying inside there is no way I am buying anything from this guy the whole time he was talking to me. When we walked away my wife said I hope you are not planning on buying anything from them, she was not impressed either. She had the creepy used car salesmen feeling... It’s been a long time since then so maybe things have changed. Heck I don’t even remember the boat they had that we looked at. I guess if I ever buy a new boat again I will be looking at Formulas since Erickson sells them too!

The good thing...sales person like him don't last long at a dealership and one sales person doesn't represent the whole dealership.
