2007 volvo penta 5.7 gxi Trim Repair kit

Im trying to figure out the most economical way to fix my trim/tilt which on this model is located on the lower unit on the outside of the hull (ugh). It looks like they sell a Trim and tilt Repair Kit second generation cover for about $550......and a Trim Repair Kit w/motor for $1,200. How would you determine if you just need the Trim Repair kit with the second generation cover or if you need the whole contraption? What an expensive/bad design to fix, haha. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I know some people have gotten help from volvo. Not everyone has but sometimes worth a call to volvo customer assistance.

Thank you! I will reach out to them! A new repair kit (the $500 one) was installed in 2016.....so maybe they can work with me for something...
