Audio Upgrades

Just passing on a bit of information I got today. To my knowledge, there is pretty much ZERO information on the Cobalt website regarding optional equipment. It's listed out on the build pages, but there's really no description of what you're getting. Looking at spec's for an R5, I noticed a third audio option when the website changed a couple weeks ago. They call it the "platinum" sound option. I called Cobalt today and got a pretty quick response from one of their tech guys. The platinum audio upgrade comes with Roswell Marine speakers and amps (as opposed to the JL Audio in the “premium” upgrade). Also, the platinum upgrade includes two subwoofers. It’s still the Rockford Fosgate head unit for both. The guy I spoke with was pretty impressed by it, so hopefully it's good stuff.

To me I would think you would rather have the JL?

That was my initial reaction as well. I love JL Audio stuff and even have one of their subs in my house. But ... although not very familiar, I do think Roswell Marine is pretty legit. I'd have to think it's a larger and more robust sound to warrant it being the upgrade. Wish I could check it out in person first though!

I'm all about stereos. I always replace my stock junk in my trucks with aftermarket amps, speakers and a set of woofers within the first week of ownership.
Im very impressed with the premium stereo. Plenty of power and very crankable without clipping. Top quality.
If the platinum were available when I ordered, I would have ordered it.

I would really like to hear the difference. Yes Roswell makes good stuff but hard to believe better than JL? Everyone likes sound in such a different way though. I love my wet sounds because I love treble and it's so clean. I think strongman switched his Roswell to Wet Sounds.

I didn't look that close at your speakers but what is in your boat now. Only reason I would put wet sounds on the tower if i ever do is just to match them to the rest.

Cobalt used the Sony explod system for their premium sound upgrade in 2005.

We may be at the mercy of what Enormis Audio "markets" as they will most likely will do the work. I'll ask them about Wet Sounds. They have a tremendous reputation here in Erie. We'll bring the boat in for a consultation and see what they suggest.

Considering:

New head unit as I hate the current interface.
Wake Tower speakers
13" TV

Any thoughts?

I would go with a rear projection tv they are much lighter than the lcd.lol
I would see if they can connect the cuddy separate or with a switch from the rest of the system.
