I replaced my gas struts in the engine compartment with the attwood OEM SL29-30 struts, with 30 denoting the lbs. However it turns out that attwood uses stickers over the pressure section for increments above 30 that has worn off mine and the requirement is much higher than 30 lbs.

Does anyone have a photo of their strut specs or know the pressure.

This may be overly simplistic, so I apologize if it sounds dumb, but could you remove the struts and weigh how heavy the engine bay door is? Since 1/2 the door is on hinges, the struts only have to support 1/2 the weight. I would take the weight of the door and divide it by two and buy struts equal or greater to that weight. That way you have some factor of safety in each strut.

You have the SL29-30 (Series 29 30LBS), so if you search for or use that number for the cross reference you should find plenty of replacements.

All series 29 are 36 1/4" long expanded and 21 1/8" long closed. They have 1/2" ball socket type ends with a rod diameter of 3/8" and a cylinder diameter of 7/8".

I am, just picked up a 2012 242 Wss. Can't wait for warmer weather!

After some calling around the final answer is 130lbs. If you have attwood struts on older models they labeled the strut with 30 lbs markings then cover that number with a sticker as they increase pressure, so inevitably the sticker wears out and you are left without an accurate marking showing lbs. I can’t explain why they would do this but the distributor I talked to says they get this question frequently.
