R6 on EZ Loader Trailer

Post by adrianj1970 »

Hi, I have recently got a EZ loader trailer for our new R6 outboard. We have the Windlass anchor and mount but have really trouble in adjusting the EZ loader trailer to ensure it clears the anchor housing. We remove the anchor when loading / unloading, however once the stern sits in the water to unload the angle does not allow the bow to clear roller on the front of the trailer. i.e pushes bow down. There seems little room to adjust the trailer. If too low sits on the D ring or if too high makes the problem worse. Attached is a photo.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

thanks,

Yea you can't use that type of bow stop with a windless. Other guys will show you what they use. Sorry but you may need to talk to your dealer.

That doesn't look correct. Here is my R7 with a windlass for reference.

Hey aj1970...so glad you found us!

Yes, you are going to need to swap out that bow stop for a lower one since you have a windlass like the above members suggest. Do you have a local trailer shop near by? Overtons, West Marine, or Great Lakes Skipper are great resources too as is your EZ loader dealer. Give them a call.

How is she powered?

And welcome aboard mate!

Good luck getting help from EZLoader! I will never own another one again nor will I recommend anyone to buy one. Now that I vented... Like others have said you have the wrong bow stop, your dealer should have known that! You need a windlass low bow stop and separate winch post. Here is a picture of my Loadmaster with their standard low bow stop. I don’t have windlass on our R5 but this is the standard bow stop on a Loadmaster trailer. Good luck to you!

I will add to the "low bow stop" train. Thatis what I have for my R3 on an Eagle trailer. Is your bow stop bolted on or welded to the trailer frame?

My previous trailer was EZloader and I can't honestly remember if it was bolted or welded. Best of luck!

Important detail that was missed. Wow!

Did they tell you to release your anchor and stack it in the floor when launching and loading? Ridiculous!

I dislike your trailer dealer as much as Snowman dislikes EZ loader.

Now get your serial/ vin off the trailer and check for general application before you have them attempt the correct bow stop. As the wench location could still be an issue.

Bottom line wrong trailer ordered or it was one they had sitting there.
Here’s a correct EZ loader trailer on our ol 282

You’ll see the pull angle is low to help prevent bouncing off the V stop, and to clear wenching her on.
