Replacement circuit breakers?

Post by clm0fiz »

2006 Cobalt 250. One of the small circuit breakers in the driver console has gone bad (the one for the Nav/Anc lights specifically). Two questions:
1. Where can I find a replacement? I haven't got the old one out yet, so I don't have any kind of part number.
2. Any advice on removing/replacing it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

There are a bunch of different styles, and matching the style (i.e., how does it mount and how does it reset) will probably be where you end up. I think most of those boats used push-button reset breakers that are fairly thin - something like the first result here:

I just had one replaced while doing my annual. The mechanic got a replacement but said he had to bend the tab connectors straight to make it fit.

Other than that, I don't have details, sorry.

I don’t know if Cobalt used the same circuit breakers for your 2006 250 and my 2007 240?

My boat used the 10 Amp Carling CLB Series circuit breaker for the anchor/navigation circuit.

Data sheet https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/65/C ... 472343.pdf

Page 2 of the datasheet shows the different configurations that are available. Ignore the picture on the first page of the datasheet as one of the configurations available (and the one on my boat) is as shown below. Not sure if mine had the black plastic ring that is threaded onto the shaft.

Depending on the exact configuration needed, these are available at Mouser, Amazon, and eBay.

It has been several years since I was last messing around under the helm so I don’t remember exactly how I got access to the circuit breakers. It seems that they were fairly accessible just by looking under that part of the helm. Worst case is that you can remove the switch panel completely by just a couple of screws and access the breakers from the top.

I would send some pictures but my boat is stored an hour away from me. I could take some pictures in the next week or two if that would be helpful.
