303 access to back of console

I am pulling off the old GPS / fishfinder the PO had on our boat and wanted to get at the power wires which are connected behind the dash. Does anyone know how to get at that area? There is a panel in the head which looks like it may work but it is big and will take a bunch of screws to get off. No problem if that's actually it but I just don't want to pull it off to find a dead end. Any help appreciated.
