Replacement piece of seagrass carpet

I was pulling my new to me 276 in high winds back from the lake yesterday. When I got home I realized that a piece of snap in carpet blew out. It is the piece just in front of the engine compartment. All the carpet in the boat is in great condition. Is there anywhere I can order a replacement carpet section. I am hoping that somewhere can get me a section that closely matches. Do I have any hope?

Can you go back ASAP and retrace your drive looking for that seagrass carpet? We had the same experience a number of years ago and found the carpet piece laying on the side of the road unharmed.

We retraced our drive 3 times and no luck. It's only a 15 minute drive. I was shocked we couldn't find it.

This is my first boat with snap in carpet. I am guessing it is a bad idea to trailer with it in? Do i need to remove it every time I trailer or did I just have some bad snaps?

The bad thing is sea grass is so light it can fly real easy. Same with snap in sea dek. Just close the mid door. That changes the air flow.

I’ve always worried about losing our snap-in carpet while towing, especially the little aft walk-thru piece. This is why I almost always install our cockpit and bow tonneau covers before towing.
An added benefit is that we usually have other supplies stored in the cockpit. The tonneau covers help prevent loss of those supplies while towing, while also helping keep the honest folk honest when we are stopped.

I have the factory bow and cockpit cover for the boat. I've seen some people say never travel with them on because it will damage your boat or possibly fly off and others say to do it. Is it pretty much most people's thought to travel with it on? That would definitely keep my carpet from flying out.

The dealer told me that it is not a travel cover and will not be covered by warranty if they know damage was caused by doing so. This was after I pulled up with them both on to have the cockpit covered for some of the seams coming apart.

I wonder what has changed? My owners manual from 2007 says:
“Do not use for bow tonneau cover for extended storage. It is not designed for storage, but can be used for overnight storage or trailering.
Notice: Always double check snaps are secure.”
There is identical wording for the cockpit cover.
Despite the owners manual warning the only time our tonneau covers are not on is if we are letting the boat interior dry out for a day or two. The tonneau covers are on the boat 99% of the time. We do not normally use the support pole unless trailering or storing outside when rainy, which is rare.

Everyone of my boats had bow and cockpit covers. I've always towed with them on and zero issues!

My dealer is wrong. I took a photo of it so if this comes up again I will pull it out. Thanks

Having towed a 276 for 8 years, it’s safe to tow the boat with the carpets installed, but you need to remove the piece in front of the engine compartment. That one blew out on us too (luckily we found it). Never had an issue with any other panels.
I just ordered new carpets from matworks.com. Maybe they can make a replacement that’s a reasonable match?
