R7 Wake Board Tower

I have a 2021 R7 with the manual lift wakeboard tower, and full Bimini. When I run a ski rope off of the tower, the rope catches on the back of the Bimini. When I run it through the provided opening in the Bimini, it also catches on the frame. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be pulling back part of the Bimini to use the tower correctly?

Thanks

My understanding is that the provided hole in the Bimini top is to put your hand through to make it easier to place the rope over the stern light on the tower. So the whole of the rope should rest on the top of your Bimini. That’s how we’ve done it for the past 10 years and we’ve never had an issue.

I would think you might damage your Bimini running the rope through the hand hole and then pulling a skier.

Maybe I need a longer ski rope which would reduce the severity of the angle.

Yeah that might work. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Some of the others on here may have some advice as well. Good luck!

Are you wake boarding or skiing?
Remember most ropes used to be tied off the rear tow ring now your off the tower. So that's what 10 to 15 feet more forward.
What is more important are you in the day spot of the wake. But from What I know I agree with DS on the rigging.

It is used primarily for wake boarding.

I guess your probably around 60 to 65 feet out. Really need to make sure your line is adjustable to get to the sweet spot of the wake with no wash.
I would think with the rider standing the angle of the line should be ok. But I never watched any water sports on a r series.
