New Wake Surf Boat Question

A friend of mine is thinking of investing in his first boat. He’s got 3 young girls and just wants to surf and have some fun tubing until they get older to wakeboard, etc. He’s currently asking about the Cobalt Surf series. While I’ve had 2 Cobalts in the past, recently R30, they’ve been cruiser boats and I have no knowledge of these surf series. I know cobalts make exceptional boats and hulls, but was curious if anyone has any info they can share on the surf series? How are the boats in general for surf wake? Smooth ride in cruise much like the rest of the Cobalts? Good with maintenance? Any info you could share that I could help pass along would be greatly appreciated. Happy summer!!!

Hey deuceskii So glad you found us.

There are quite a few threads on the performance of the Cobalt R surf series. From what folks have said, the latest Surf series within the last year or two have really put out a nice surf wake. Folks will chime in shortly but feel free to peruse the topic.

Any pics of your R30?

And welcome aboard mate.

We had an R7 surf and it was ok… Our R8 surf has a much better wake! I would say if they are interested in surfing and want a cobalt to go for an even number R surf rather than the odd numbered surf. We are very happy with our wake, the boat, everything.
