battery replacement

I have one bad battery I'm wondering if I should replace both battery's or just the one i know is bad

How old are your batteries? Starting or deep cycle?
I use a BA101 battery tester to measure and track the internal resistance of my batteries. Amazon has one available for $43.99, but sometimes eBay has them for less.

I have a pair of deep cycle batteries that I use as starting batteries for our boat that have been in service since 2014.

The battery in my backhoe I replaced last week, it was from 2011, factory battery branded by Deere made by Duracell. That said when you have two, and one of the same age/use is bad, get a new set. Just what I’d do….especially if over 3 years old

I don’t like going more than 3-5 years with batteries depending on use. We replace both at the same time in our boat.

3-5 years maximum was also my experience using starting batteries. I’ve gotten completely different results since switching to deep cycle batteries being used as starting batteries. The deep cycle batteries end up being MUCH more tolerant of sitting unused for 6-9 month stretches.

I'm inclined to agree. This may be the last year on our 2019 batteries.
Only two times we've been stuck on water were because of a battery or fuel filter.
Side note to AsLan, our 2013 Mercedes ML350 would not go into gear after using the push start. I figured out that it would go into gear if I used key to start, so I never did anything about it. This morning, I replaced battery, probably 2nd replacement on a 2013, and now I can use push start feature again.
