I am currently and actively looking for a windshield to fit my 1996 cobalt 252. I have read several posts and different websites across the country. It appears that it is "Taylor Made" curved glass. I have sent a few emails to them with no success. This would be for the driver's side. I am also actively looking at different local boat shops around Oklahoma. It seems very frustrating to not be able to find a replacement glass. From what I read Taylor will want to sell me the entire windshield for several thousand dollars... BOAT... bust out another thousand. I have considered plexiglass, but I think that would look tacky. Lastly, if anyone has any advice on where to find the matched windshield section that would be awesome. Or even better one for sale.

So glad you found us PM

Have you tried eBay or GreatLakesskipper?

Windshields and certain filler cushions can be unicorns.

Any pics?

And welcome aboard mate.

AsLan7, thanks for the response. Yes, it is a unicorn from what i can see... i have followed this site for a while and never joined. I bought this boat about 5 years ago and upgraded from a smaller 19'... Love my cobalt 252 and do a lot of my own work.

I did purchase one on ebay... it was for the 1989 cuddy cabin and may/may not fit... I figured if it does not fit i could just resale it. The only other option after searching all over will be plexiglass. I only currently have a picture of the shield being busted after this weekend. Needless to say i am super bumbed/depressed about this.

You can’t just post a picture like that without telling us the story of what happened.

I think years from now it maybe a good story..I am still so upset about it because I spend a lot of money working on this boat trying to keep it as nice as possible... Long story short...I was helping my wife in a boat leaving a marina with a live band and got shoved into the windshield by some stranger wanting to stir trouble... I can say I was spitting/fighting/mad... but the wife begged/pleaded/convinced me to leave the situation...

This is a a toughee, Yes boat builders in the off season if there is a off season in OK

It looks like you still have the frame, suggest you do some research on Acrylic. I don't think its plexiglass (plexy will scratch). I think my ATV windshield is an Acrylic material but it thick. Companies use Acrylic sometimes instead of glass (safety). Not sure how you cut it ...probably the same way you cut glass. good luck.

That is nuts. I’m glad you and your wife came out of that without any injuries.

Thanks, gentleman for the kind words! Yes, I got some glass cuts and bruises but nothing permanent. I have been putting a lot of work into my boat the last 5 years from upholstery to bellow/gimble bearing just last thursday&friday... got everything running great!!! Then i run into this mess... ... welp... just an FYI.. i have tried a lot of the places online too... basically, no one sells a replacement... i haven't contacted Taylor Made by phone yet, but from what I read they will want to sell the entire windshield for $$$. The other options are to get arcrylic. I do know a guy close that works with hard plastics like this so I may end up going that route. For now, I'm still hunting the glass and frame because i think the original will look better.

Yea that sucks. Forget Taylor made. They suck and won't help you.
Try a local auto glass company. There is a company in Florida that can do this. Try searching it. I would have to dig into it myself.
Also try green bay prop. They have a bunch a different ones in stk. Good luck.

What kind of glass was it? The way it shattered, it looks like tempered glass. Definitely not safety glass.
