Hey mdA28. So glad you found us.

That's a first. Usually folks want to add the Windlass. Slideruleracer on the forum may be able to fabricate you a blanking plate if you can't locate it. Have you tried GreatLakesSkipper.com?

Any pics?

And welcome aboard mate!

Can you come and install that windless on my boat? I definitely wish I had one.

HI, Are your removing the windlass completely? I would be interested in purchasing possibly. Would have to check compatibility with my 282 and its anchor locker.

"I definitely wish I had one."

Best. Purchase. Ever.

First season using it. All that manual hassle anchoring versus: Sit in captain's chair, push button.

Installed Lewmar V700 with Danforth anchor. On the initial installation, we made a rode mistake: 10' of chain on the end of 50' of rope. It wouldn't spool properly because my locker is too shallow. Switched to 70' all chain. Now works perfectly.

Mind sharing some pictures of what your after market setup looks like? Both the anchor area and I assume added switch to the helm.

"Mind sharing . . ."

Sorry, no pics.

Anchor, pulpit, and capstan all look factory. Chain spools to locker under vertical windlass. Switch is at the helm.

Any chance you could please share where you purchased the 70’ of chain and the specs? Anything exotic or can it be purchased anywhere? Have the same rope & chain setup you had and it’s definitely a pain.

Most likely 1/4" G4 but check the manual for the windlass you are looking at and size of boat. If you go with a windlass and all chain I would recommend you purchase an anchor bridle. You don't want the windlass to take the strain of the hold and it will help absorb the jolt when the boat swings in a stiff wind.

"share where you purchased"

e-rigging.com.

Great service and price. Make sure it specs with your windlass. Installation tip: Use an easy release where you fix the chain to the anchor locker. Unlike rope, if your anchor is irretrievably stuck, you can't easily cut the chain. Just release the chain, attach a float to it, retrieve later.

"purchase an anchor bridle."

Depends on the conditions of your typical anchoring (among other things). In mine, it's an unnecessary expense and hassle.
