Cobalt 242 Mooring Cover Support System

Does anyone have a Cover Support System that they would recommend for a 2010 Cobalt 242 with a Factory Tower?

I just ordered a new Outer Armor cover for it, but would like to put a support system on it to keep any water from pooling on it. The cover that came with the boat had seveal tears, plus it would not keep out water even after applying 303 water repellant

I wasn't sure what that boat came with from the Factory with a Mooring cover support, but since I bought mine used, it was missing.

Any pictures as well with the Cobalt one or where to easily get the Cobalt one would be appreciated..

Thank you,

The support system should be two poles that are connect egether. Each pole has two ropes that go to the cleats. I don’t have a pic

Thank you so much. I've been googling pictures today looking at options for it. I was hoping I could find a factory one online used somewhere or one someone didnt need with their cover

One could probably make the poles out of PVC. I did this with my last boat (not a Cobalt) and it worked really well. Even made a foot for one of the poles out of a square of pvc tubing to make it more stable. Then just ropes to cleats, like previously suggested.

Call outer armor and tell them the support system is gone and see if they will send another

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll email Outer Armor and see if I can get the part number for it and see if they will provide or order it through the dealer I ordered the cover from if I have too.

On my last Cobalt I had made 2 pipes similar to what was described above 2" PVC with a cap on top mounted on a 12" base. The only bad part was they were bulky to transport when I was taking the boat from the house for the week.

Interesting ...and 303 sucks, look for camping gear water repellents for boots/tents. I use Kiwi brand. I'm not familiar w/ Outer Armor, but assuming this is a MOORING support system for the boat on a MOORING, the issue is the cover stretches and sags in time. The bigger the continuous cover the faster the water sag whether you have a Mooring Cover Support System or not. The solution is a cover ratcheting tool at the swim deck, but it doesn't exist for big boats over 10 -12'. BTW- I don't want to mess with mooring support systems at the end of a long day on the water.

Recommend you save your money and you have a canvas shop replace the original cobalt covers (template). If you want a trailer cover for your cobalt the very best fitted covers are from Westland via Baldmike.com (sunbella). if you really want a support system and you have a tower then possibly you can get a support system that holds up the cover (sharkskin) by the tower, however, you need to cut the cover. Good luck

Outer Armor started manufacturing the Cobalt OEM covers in 2009-2010 to current. That was part of the issue I was having as well as I had always had Westland covers in the past, but they last had the 2008 Cobalt 242 in their files and not the 2010. I called Westland and was trying to work with them on ordering a cover, but they pulled the CAD template file for the 2008 242 they had as the last 242 they made covers for Cobalt and the measurements of where the tower was did not match up to the measurements and location on my boat. So I didn't want to take the chance that it was off despite all the pictures looking the same on tower placement.

All I can say for the mooring cover I went full circle and went back to the standard Cobalt snap cover and fancy big wide adjustable pole for support. Its quick and easy. However, I hate snaps. Next problem - keeping birds off the boat on the mooring.
