Hello-

New to me Cobalt 2015 R5 WSS. Our first trip out was great until loading on the trailer. Boat idled about 10 minutes waiting on ramp to load and loading the alarm went off. I thought it may be for depth but now the 2.5” display has PTA and engine picture. The throttle also has a engine on it, I have not tried to start after loading and shutting down. Any advice, places to start troubleshooting? Pics of displays.

Thanks!

You have a power trim assist issue. And that's a check engine light like in your car. Probably related to the PTA code.

Hey BigA. So glad you found us.

When your alarm went off, what was the engine temp? May have had something clog the intake on the outdrive ( like a bag or weeds) while you were idling for 10 minutes. If the check engine light did not go away after restarting I would have the code read by a marine tech.

Welcome aboard mate.

Thanks for the replies. Keep eye on engine temp all day and was 154. Does the 6.2 have the fuel pump cooling/clogging issue like the 8.1 that reveals at idle?

No. The cool fuel paint issue was years ago and only for a very specific run of Mercs.

My boat had the cool fuel paint issue crack in 2017. Sucked but merc fixed it all. No problems after
