New 302 Owner

Post by kep5niner »

Greetings,

I'm glad I found this forum! It seems to be a great community, eager to help, and I've learned a lot from here before I pulled the trigger on a 2012 Cobalt 302. I've been boating my entire life, water skiing until after college, then got hooked on cruisers after that. We also had an 18' runabout to get the kids water skiing as well. Now they're off to college, my wife and I treated ourselves to the Cobalt.

The fit and finish of this boat is impressive, as well at the performance with the twin 5.7 GXiC-320-R. A few upgrades have found their way into the boat, including a dual 10-amp battery charger, Pender Pro clips, and I'll be installing a SeaLux marine flag pole and base. I'm currently researching fridge options to install in the factory location - more to follow.

I look forward to getting this boat where it needs to be - 100% - and will share what I can with the forum in the process. And of course - pics...

Thank you! I was shooting for about 10,000# to not get tossed around like a wine cork on Lake Ozark. This 302 handles magnificently!

Good eye! Yes one of my other toys. Makes boating seem cheap.

Airplane - yes, GPS400W. Good enough for my purposes, but I could easily throw $100k at the panel if I won the lotto. That’s another forum.

The boat - just a huge standby compass staring at me. Need to look at updating to a chart plotter for that as well.
