Vinyl tube on 07 496

I found a small black vinyl tube on the port side that somehow got melted. I tried to trace where it goes by hand, but it disappeared behind other components. Does anyone know what the vinyl tube is for?
The view is looking aft on the port side.

Is your speedo working? Pick up tube?

The speedometer does work, although sometimes it is a bit sluggish when first getting up on plane.
The end of this tube is not connected to anything?

Looks like a simple breather tube.

Thanks for that response Aslan. So where would a breather tube normally attach? The valve cover?
I bet it is not doing much breathing right now.
. Somehow that melting completely closed up the tube.
So I should be able to cut the tube above the melted portion and call it a day?
